Writing A 10 Word Essay

Our teacher told us to try out the Star-Nie challenge about writing a 10-word essay. The essay must contain the word "spooky". It is actually quite a challenging thing to do especially with this limited amount of words. Besides, we will have to include the word "spooky" in the essay which makes it more difficult. I managed to finish it after a few sessions of brainstorming and I came up with something that is quite underwhelming but I can't think of anything better.

The essay is supposed to "crank up the scares" but the compulsory word "spooky" makes it quite impossible as the word itself gives out a more comical feeling than a scary one. It is just annoying to deal with one word that counters everything that they requested to have in our essays. most of the ideas would sound so much better if the word "spooky" wasn't given. They could've given better words such as mysterious, unsettling, ominous and etc.

I know this is a challenge but it is kind of limiting our imagination with one word blocking the way. I hope that they improved other challenges that they are going to have in the future by giving a little less limitation or a more flexible limitation.
